How Long does it take TTB to Process an MNBP Drawback Claim?

Anyone who works in a financial role understands the time value of money.
One of the more common questions we receive from new drawback clients is how long it will take TTB to process and pay out the refund that is claimed via a nonbeverage drawback claim.
As of June 2026, TTB's website indicates that the average claim processing time is ~35 days. Although I have no reason to doubt this number, it likely deviates a bit from the average time for new MNBP's filing a claim for the first time. The reality is that, if there are any issues with the claim, TTB will typically take a bit longer to process it. Further, the process of qualifying as a new MNBP can be daunting for anyone not familiar with the TTB.
So, what can you do to expedite the processing time? In short, you should ensure your claim is prepared the right way before you file it.
Claims with rounding errors, typos, or otherwise minor issues frequently result in processing delays. The best strategy for expediting MNBP drawback review is to file the claim error-free the first time.
If you have questions on where to start in filing TTB drawback claims, we highly recommend consulting with an experienced law firm who can help navigate the process.
